October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
During this month RTL Associates will be sharing information highlighting breast cancer. During this month we will be sharing a lot of reasons why everyone should know the signs and have regular exams for breast cancer. We will also dispel some myths about breast cancer and what events trigger the need for to see the doctor.
Breast cancer occurs when cells in the breast grow out of control and eventually form tumors. Most breast cancers usually develop in the milk ducts. It is usually detected during a screening exam or a lump that develops. The good news is that breast cancer is not a death sentence, if caught and removed early, You can continue leading a good life.
Some of the symptoms of breast cancer are:
- A recently developed breast lump
- Breast pain
- A lump or swelling under your arm
- A change in the appearance of the skin on your breast
Some of the risk factors:
- Never being pregnant
- Drinking alcohol
Even though you may be high risk or have some symptoms does not mean that you will have breast cancer. The best thing to do is get checked regularly and take avoid the risk factors when possible. If you need help or have questions about breast cancer feel free to contact us.
